Client: Crespo
Project: Crespo Branding
Deliverables: Logo/Identity Lettering.
Project Notes: I met DJ Crespo through a photoshoot he had with my bud, Anthony Anderson. He’s an all around swell guy that spins EDM in the US and across the globe. Initially, we discussed doing some work together as he was looking to update his brand to something that felt energetic and full of life, something that represented him and his target demo. Immediately I knew what style we could use as per his suggestions of something in the neighborhood of Alesso or Tommy Trash’ identity. Except the latter was just a typeface called “Mustang.

Used quite a lot of glossy paper and ink to hand letter the right style for Crespo. I scanned a few sheets at 600 dpi and prepared it for tracing.

Concept Versions

I made the first round of concepts. Then made subsequent changes based on the clients feedback. I like to place the concepts in some sort of application format so it really helps sell the creative.

Vectorizing the type after choosing the final was quite a task. I still prefer the rugged, brush look but I like to provide a vector version. I made a smooth, clean version and a more rugged/rough version.
